Overview

HC-X is proud to partner with Future Lawyers Academy to offer an interactive digital credential in Canadian Politics and Law.

This program provides an introduction to Canada’s political and legal landscape, ideal for students considering future careers in law, governance, or civic engagement. Students will explore the workings of Canadian democracy, from understanding political structures to the basics of law-making. In small groups, they’ll analyze landmark cases, learn about the three branches of government, and discuss roles within the political and legal fields. A unique feature of this program is a guest lecture from a current MP or Senator, providing students with real-world insight into the life of a Canadian parliamentarian.

With no prior experience required, this course combines lectures with hands-on activities, such as mock debates and group discussions, to help students develop their critical thinking and public speaking skills.

This program will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays in January 2025 from 4:00-6:00 pm (16 hours total).

Availability: All students in Grades 9-12, no experience required!
Program Fee: $435 CAD
