Overview
Havergal College is partnering with accomplished Old Girls and current parents to offer a Digital Credential in Contemporary Finance. The banking industry has been disrupted many times over in the last few decades, be it through e-banking, companies such as Tangerine and WealthSimple, and of course, cryptocurrencies.
For students in Grades 9 - 12, Havergal College is offering this digital credential with the generosity of time and expertise of Old Girls and current parents from TD Bank, Oxford Venture Enterprises, WealthSimple and Hut 8 Mining. Leveraging this expertise, students will learn asynchronously through discreet knowledge modules.
Course Components:
Online Modules: Units in Canvas about Cryptocurrency, ESG Investing, and Women in Capital Markets involving articles, videos, knowledge checks and learning reflections.
In-Person Relationships: Opportunities to meet and connect with other learners in the program to deepen your learning
Events: Guest speakers, panels and excursions as opportunities to bring this learning to life
Industry Connections: Meet with Havergal alum and current parents involved in the Finance industry, with an opportunity for a micro-internship or extended interview.
Once completed, students will work with HC-X to coordinate an extended interview and/or a micro-internship within one of these organizations, or a related organization of their choice. They will then conduct a reflection exercise through HC-X to complete and be granted the digital credential.
This digital credential will run approximately 10 - 12 hours, plus the extended interview/micro-internship and will be supported by HC-X staff. It provides flexibility in timing, with asynchronous learning modules, and networking opportunities through our Havergal Old Girls network.
While an interest in banking and finance is a must, there is no prior experience, courses or club participation required.
Availability: All students in Grades 9-12, no experience required!
Program Fee: $50
