Are you passionate about Art, Design, Sustainability, and how buildings shape our civic experience? Our Intro to Architecture microcredential for Grade 9-12 students offers an immersive experience into the world of architecture, with student input playing a key role in shaping the program.
You'll explore Architectural design principles and learn how architects think, solve real-world challenges, and create spaces that are both beautiful and sustainable.
You will also get insights into the most relevant digital tools used by architects today, exploring exciting trends like smart buildings, inclusive design, and 3D printing, offering you a glimpse into the future of architecture.
This micro-credential is designed to evolve with your input, so whether you're just exploring architecture or ready to build a future in it, your feedback will help shape a real-world preview of what it takes to design the spaces of tomorrow.

Course Structure, Outcomes & Delivery
The program may include in-field excursions to both large-scale architecture firms and smaller creative studios, based on student interest, providing different perspectives on buildings and the public realm.
You'll also have opportunities to participate in in-house workshops and a micro-internship, interview or job shadowing to experience what a day in the life of an architect is like.
Through connections with first-year university architecture students, you'll gain valuable insights into developing a strong portfolio, learning firsthand what makes a successful application and how to present your unique design ideas effectively from those who have recently been through the process.
Format:
This digital credential will have an asynchronous knowledge component hosted in Canvas, brought to life through live events and followed by an in-person extended interview or micro-internship. HC-X will support students in their progress and with scheduling the in-person touchpoints, as well as their final reflection piece.
It will run approximately 10-12 hours in a flexible format.
